10 Questions: Roger Franklin

Oklahoma State expects to sign up to six players during the early signing period which begins Wednesday. GoPokes.com visited with several of those players in recent days, asking them 10 questions to help Cowboy fans get to know them better. Here are the answers provided by Roger Franklin, a 6-5, 205-pound small forward who is ranked as the 43rd-best high school prospect in the nation.

Q: Do you have any special plans for when you sign?
Franklin: Both Reger (Dowell) and I are going to sign around 7 or 7:30 Wednesday night at Duncanville High School. We're going to take pictures and I'm going to have an Oklahoma State Cowboys cake. We're just going to have fun and celebrate signing.

Q: What was your deciding factor in committing to the Cowboys?
Franklin: I would have to say it would have to be the coaching staff. I love the coaching staff. I also love the support (the team) gets from the fans.

Q: What are three words that describe you as a person?
Franklin: Energetic. Loving. Blessed.

Q: What are three words that describe you as a basketball player?
Franklin: Fierce. Heart. Smart. I'm a smart basketball player, a fierce basketball player with the heart of a basketball player.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do on the basketball court?
Franklin: One of my favorite things is when one of my teammates or me make a big play and yelling to the crowd to get them involved in the game. I like to get the crowd going and involved in the game.

Q: What's your favorite thing to do off the court?
Franklin: I have a lot of fun spending time with my family.

Q: If you don't go on to play in the NBA, what would you like to do?
Franklin: I would like to go into broadcasting. I think that would be the best thing for me to do, go into broadcasting.

Q: What are you most looking forward to in terms of playing at Oklahoma State?
Franklin: I'm looking forward to playing for hard-nosed coaches who are going to push me and help me reach my dreams. Also, I'm looking forward to getting to know my teammates and building lifetime relationships with them while we try to accomplish a lot of great goals at Oklahoma State.

Q: What do you feel will be your biggest challenge in moving from high school to college?
Franklin: I would have to say it would be the pace of the game and the physical attributes of the game. I'll be dealing with more physical players.

Q: Who is the one player on OSU's roster, or in your recruiting class, that you are most excited to be teammates with next season?
Franklin: That's got to be Marshall. I forgot his last name but his first name is Marshall (meaning current Cowboy Marshall Moses). That kid is crazy.
