Recruiting: DT Recruit Still Going Strong

Defensive tackle Justin Washington of Cypress Woods, Texas, said he is having some exciting moments as the Houston area school keeps advancing in the Class 5A, Division I playoffs.

"We had some exciting and anxious moments in week one," said Washington of the 21-20 win over Georgetown by the Cy Woods Wildcats. "I played really well in that game and had nine tackles and a sack. It got a lot better this last game. It was a lot better against Klein Forest."

Yes, this week the Wildcats won by the comfortable margin of 22-15. It was still a tight fit and because of the spread offense of Forest, Washington said he did not play as many snaps this week.

Cy Woods moves on to now play Dallas Skyline in Waco at Waco ISD Stadium on Saturday.

Washington said he is excited about the matchup and a chance to make it to the quarterfinals in state. For the time being recruiting is on hold as the playoffs take over, as they should, in his football world. He did comment on the status of his recruiting interest as Oklahoma State had made a scholarship offer earlier in the fall.

"It's Oklahoma State still, Utah, Arizona, Tulane and UTEP," said Washington listing the schools. "Missouri is in there too. Missouri has been recruiting me more and more lately."

Washington is listening to the schools but he is paying the most attention to getting ready for Skyline this week, that and a little turkey on Thursday, turkey that always tastes a little better after a playoff practice.
