Recruiting: Cobi Hamilton Has Eyes On Bedlam

Wide receiver Cobi Hamilton of Texarkana (Texas High), Texas, says now that his senior season ended last weekend with a 35-10 loss to Hewitt (Midway) in the second round of the Class 4A Division I playoffs it is now time to get down to the next business at hand, recruiting and selecting a college.

"I was holding off on it," said the 6-3, 198-pound wide receiver of the recruiting process. "Now I am going to sit down with my head coach either Tuesday or Wednesday and then I am going to sit down with my parents and start figuring out these visits and which schools are best for me."

Hamilton is a very talented athlete that runs a mid-4.5 in the forty and this season finished with 64 receptions for 1,071 yards and 14 touchdowns. As a junior he had 29 catches for 726 yards and seven touchdowns.

What is he looking for in a college home? "Academics are first," he said. "Then there is playing time. I want to play early and I know a lot of players say that but I would like to play my freshman season. Then I am looking at the town outside of football. Football lasts six months out of the year and so I have to be happy there all year round. I am looking to major in business or veterinarian medicine."

Hamilton mentioned Kansas, Oklahoma State and Baylor, but hinted that there a lot of other schools that have inquired. Hamilton said he will make an unofficial visit this weekend to Stillwater and plans to be in attendance for the Bedlam football game on Saturday night.

He also plays basketball and runs track at Texas High and said he had already reported to basketball.
