Recruiting: Moore Is More Than A Tight End

We need to apologize to Tulsa (Union), Okla., receiver Tracy Moore. We've always thought of the 6-3 1/2, 220-pound Moore as a tight end but that may not be accurate."They are looking at me and whether I can fit into what they are doing," said Moore of a recent report that he is looking at Oklahoma State and the Cowboys are looking at him.

"They are talking about recruiting me as something other than a tight end and looking at the slot back (or slot receiver) position," Moore said Tuesday night.

Moore's number are undeniable this season as he has 62 receptions for 850 yards (which is good for a 13.5 yards per catch average) and he has hauled in 13 touchdown catches. Yet. Moore will tell you it is something else that highlights his highlight tape.

"You can look at my highlight tape and you will find me blocking," he said. "It is all over that tape and that is one of the things that I do best."

Besides Oklahoma State, Kansas, Colorado, Tulsa and Iowa State are after Moore. He is good friends with Union running back Jeremy Smith, who was an early commitment to Oklahoma State and that may be why Moore could see himself there.

It is expected that both he and Smith will be at the Bedlam game on Saturday night as Union meets Midwest City in Sand Springs on Friday night in one of the Class 6A semifinal games. Mustang and Jenks meet in the other semifinal at Broken Arrow.

Moore really believes in the way the Redskins are playing right now. "My team is playing good even though most of the time we are only having to play a half," he said citing something that could change against the unbeaten Bombers this week.

"The offensive line is playing together and the offense is really clicking. The defense is stepping up and making tackles. I feel really good about the way we are playing and I think I am helping my team playing well."

Moore is a good athlete, and if you combine his blocking and forgive us for not giving him more credit in being versatile then he is a very attractive prospect for any school.
