Recruiting: Hamilton Has Busy Monday Night

Wide receiver Cobi Hamilton of Texarkana (Texas High), Texas, is seeing his recruitment rapidly pick up steam now that his senior season is over. Monday night alone Hamilton entertained Joe Wickline from Oklahoma State and Nebraska assistant John Papuchis. Hamilton plays basketball but the hoops coach understands what is going on and has given him a break before starting in on basketball season.

"He's told me to sit it out for awhile with all this recruiting," said Hamilton, who just recently finished his senior football season after Texarkana was eliminated in the Class 4A playoffs in Texas. "He's got me taking a break before I get into it."

Hamilton certainly had plenty of game going during football season as the 6-4, close to 200 pound receiver finished his senior season with 64 receptions for 1,071 yards and 14 touchdowns giving him a two-year total of 93 catches, 1,797 yards and 21 touchdowns. Pretty impressive!

Hamilton was in Stillwater on Saturday for the Bedlam game. "It was fun," he said. "The stadium is real nice and the whole thing was real interesting. It was interesting to see how big the players are compared to high school and how they do different drills. The work ethic required to be successful.

"It wasn't long after we checked into the hotel (Hamilton came along with Texas High standout junior quarterback Nathan Sorenson), that Coach Wick (Wickline) and Trooper (Coach Trooper Taylor) came over and talked to us," continued Hamilton.

"The atmosphere (at the game) was unbelievable and we got to go on The Walk with the team. Fans were shaking our hands and telling us to come to school at OSU. The fans are great and are really into it."

Hamilton will be busy the rest of the way as he has an official visit scheduled to Kansas this coming weekend. Then in January he will visit Arkansas on the 7th and then Oklahoma State for an official on the 16th. He is also hearing from Oklahoma and expecting an offer soon.

He said Monday night he met with Wickline and then later with Nebraska's Papuchis.

"I actually talked to him during the school day around lunch for 30 minutes and then tonight he came out to meet my parents," said Hamilton of Wickline.

Cobi Hamilton is right out there in front in wide receiver recruitment in Texas right now.
