Recruiting: No Quick Decision For Kight

Don't expect to hear about a verbal commitment coming from Atlanta (Martin Luther King), Ga. athlete Joel Kight any time soon. Kight is just halfway home with his official visits having taken an in-season visit to Boston College and we spoke to the 5-11, 205-pound speedy dual threat just after he had arrived home from his visit this weekend to Stillwater and Oklahoma State.

"No, I'm not ready to make a decision, and I probably won't make a commitment until after my January visit to Ole Miss," said Kight, who also has an official visit to hometown Georgia Tech next weekend. "Distance is not a big thing to me. It doesn't matter because I could be happy close to home or I could be happy at a school aways from Atlanta."

Joel Kight, who is being looked at as a linebacker at Oklahoma State, punctuated the facilities and the people when speaking about his just completed trip.

"Yes, they showed me the facilities and the facilities are great," said Kight. "They are still building them right now but when they are totally completed they are going to be as good a facilities as you will be able to find.

"The people, too, they were cool. I had a lot of time with Coach (Mike) Gundy and I really like him. Coach (Glenn) Spencer is the coach recruiting me and we are cool with each other. Richetti Jones showed me around and he is a good guy, we were cool with each other. They are all good people there."

Kight doesn't give a real strong read on which way he might be leaning and that may be because he may not be leaning. He said he is just trying to soak everything in during the visits and that is why he will wait until he's seen the four schools that he is scheduled to see.

One difference is where he would play at each school. For example, Oklahoma State is looking at Kight as a linebacker, and Georgia Tech, his visit next week, is looking at him as a running back. Does that matter?

"It really doesn't," said Kight. "I could play either and when I play I try to be as physical as I can no matter what side of the ball I am playing."

All four schools on his visit itinerary fit his proposed major as he told me he is looking at business or some form of management as a major, perhaps business management. Kight is a bright young man who is a confirmed player and as a prospect he is exacting in wanting to see what is out there.
