Is Trooper Taylor Leaving Too?

Nobody is confirming it yet but it looks as if Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy will have to fill four vacancies on his staff. It appears that co-offensive coordinator/wide receivers coach Trooper Taylor is leaving the staff. An initial report had Taylor moving with running backs coach Curtis Luper to Auburn.

Reports at Auburn had Taylor, who has been on Gundy's staff for one year since coming from Tennessee, being pursued by both Auburn and new Tennessee head coach Lane Kiffin to return to Knoxville and help rebuild the Vols program.

"Trooper is in a good position," said Luper. "I'm not going to comment on where he is going. You will have to ask him. But he has a job and he has people that want him. That is a good position. I was hoping he would be with me (at Auburn), but I don't know. It may not be known until Monday."

Sources at Auburn thought that Taylor was going to be added to the staff but there has been no announcement and one was not expected Saturday night.

We have tried to reach Taylor, who is from Cuero, Texas, played collegiately for Grant Teaff at Baylor, coached at Baylor on the staff for Chuck Reedy and with Mike Gundy. Taylor did not answer our calls or text messages.

Oklahoma State has a vacancy at defensive coordinator, running backs coach, director of football operations, and, if Taylor is departing, wide receivers coach.

Needless to say it has been a hectic weekend and it will be interesting when the staff gets back together for the first time since the Holiday Bowl on Sunday afternoon.
