Recruiting: Cobi Sees OSU; UT Or Auburn Next?

Wide receiver Cobi Hamilton of Texarkana (Texas High), Texas was on the road again this weekend. The 6-3 1/2, 190-pound standout receiver and basketball player left Texarkana on Friday and still has yet to play a home basketball game. "It's killing me," said Hamilton while riding as a passenger home from visiting Oklahoma State this weekend, accompanied by his high school coach Barry Norton.

"I have to take care of business (finding a college) and it's bothering my coaches and my teammates. But they know what's up. We're on the road on Tuesday (basketball) and home again on Friday, so I'm going to miss again," Hamilton said Sunday afternoon.

He will because that is when Hamilton says he will take his fifth and final official visit in recruiting to either Texas or Auburn. He said Texas has jumped in on recruiting him and former OSU assistants Curtis Luper and Trooper Taylor are recruiting him for Auburn. Both schools are in his top three or four that he talked about. Asked if he was holding the names of those schools back, he replied.

"I'm going to make my decision after this last visit and right now it is Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Texas, and Auburn that are my top three or four," said Hamilton, who caught 64 passes this past season for 1,071 yards and 14 touchdowns. He averaged 16.7 yards per catch.

As for his visit this weekend to Stillwater, Hamilton rated it nice. OSU was his fourth visit following trips to Kansas (12/12), Missouri (12/19), and Arkansas (1/9).

"It was good, real nice," said Hamilton of the weekend at OSU. "Justin Blackmon, I believe, showed me around and he was a good guy. The strength and conditioning staff stood out. It was fun talking to them about all of the things that they use that could help make me better as a player and athlete. Strength and conditioning is a big thing for me."

Hamilton had hinted at that when we spoke to him last week after his visit to Arkansas, and he said the weight room was what stood out most in his visit to Fayetteville, Ark.

Now, it looks like one more visit, either to Texas or Auburn for Hamilton and then some time to sort it all out and come up with his college conclusion.
