Recruiting: Hurst Commits But May Visit Miami

Oklahoma State is really needing to secure some more help at the cornerback position in the 2009 recruiting class and this weekend they got it in the form of Lancaster, Texas product DeMontre Hurst. The 5-11, 170-pound speedy Hurst had 80 tackles and five interceptions this past season and is considered to be one of the better cornerback prospects in Texas.

"It was really great (on his visit to Stillwater)," said Hurst. "They showed me a great time. The coaches were fun, the players were fun, and my host, Richetti Jones, he is a great guy."

Hurst had previously visited Arizona and was drawing interest from the likes of Michigan, West Virginia and North Carolina. Hurst is scheduled to visit Miami this next weekend.

"I committed to Oklahoma State," said Hurst. "I talked to Coach (Mike) Gundy about that Miami visit. I would like to take that visit, but Coach Gundy and I haven't settled on that yet.

"I committed to Oklahoma State because it is close to home. My mom was supposed to come up there on Saturday, but she couldn't come. I called my Granny because she was down the street and she came up and she saw it. We had a great time together up there.

"To me it just felt like home," added Hurst. "I felt safe there and like I was being taken care of. I saw the apartments the players live in and they have their stuff really straight."

Hurst said he also felt that he would have the opportunity to play and he knew that Oklahoma State was looking for help at the cornerback position.

Now it will be interesting to see if he makes that final scheduled visit to Miami or if he just calls it done following his commitment to Oklahoma State.
