Gunter Brewer Says He's Staying At OSU

Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer said he is no longer a candidate for the offensive coordinator job at the University of Minnesota, a position he interviewed for on Thursday of last week, he said in a text message received by Go Pokes Executive Editor Robert Allen early Sunday evening.

"Just want to let you know I have removed my name from consideration as offensive coordinator at Minnesota," started the text from Brewer. "I am honored that Coach (Tim) Brewster thought enough of met to interview for such a position and appreciate that opportunity.

"At this time it's in my families best interest to remain a part of Coach Gundy's staff and in the Cowboy family. Stillwater and OSU have been very special and loyal to us and we feel the same way about the Orange Nation."

Brewer was an original member of Gundy's staff hired in January of 2005 and was promoted to co-offensive coordinator after last season.

With the departure of Trooper Taylor to Auburn, Brewer no longer shares that status and is the offensive coordinator. Of course, head coach Mike Gundy calls the plays. He did this season but the other day Gundy told the media in a conference call that his calling the plays will be evaluated and was not ready to say he would be doing it again next season.

Brewer came to Oklahoma State as wide receivers coach after serving in the same position at North Carolina.
