Recruiting: Hurst Cancels Miami Visit

Just checking in with cornerback DeMontre Hurst of Lancaster, Texas. The 5-11, 170-pound speedster made a pledge to Oklahoma State after an official visit last weekend. Hurst was impressed with head coach Mike Gundy, his staff, and the facilities at Oklahoma State. But he also hinted that he might want to take a scheduled visit this weekend to Miami, a school he really liked going into recruiting.

"I'm not going to visit," said Hurst on Thursday night. "I'm committed to Oklahoma State and I'm very happy with where I am at and who I am with, and I don't want to waste anybody's time in recruiting me."

Hurst said the feeling he had about Oklahoma State has not worn off at all. He is as excited today as he was when he left the campus last Sunday.

"I've got a great school, and I've got a chance to play and do really good there," he added.

Hurst had 80 tackles and 5 interceptions as a senior last season. He projects as one of the top cornerback prospects in Texas in the '09 class. The Cowboys surely are pleased that he is in the solid category with no talk of any other visits.
