Recruiting: Donte Foster May Visit Saturday

After talking with Guthrie High head football coach Rafe Watkins on Friday and finding out that basketball standout Donte' Foster hit a pair of free throws with six seconds left Thursday night to help the Blue Jays to a 52-51 win over El Reno, we also found out that the Cowboys have an interest in Foster. Foster is expected to make a trip to Stillwater on Saturday to meet with the OSU coaches.

This is the same Foster that helped Guthrie to the Class 5A state championship as a junior and also hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer last March in the Ford Center to win the 5A state championship in basketball.

Foster, who has been discussed as both a college basketball and football prospect, finished with 51 receptions for 938 yards and 14 touchdowns this past fall for Watkins' Blue Jay football team. He also returned two kicks for touchdowns this season and had one of the most sensational catches you'll ever see going high with one hand to haul in a long pass in the opening game against defending Class 4A state champion Bishop McGuinness.

Foster is 6-3, 195 pounds and runs a 4.55 in the forty. He is also a state champion in track in the high jump and his track coach says with work he could be a seven-foot high jumper.

Foster was featured on ESPN's Plays of the Day earlier this week when he tipped an inbounds pass up and behind him some 15 feet for a basket at the buzzer to end the quarter in a game in the Carl Albert Tournament. Foster has made a habit of making plays, both the expected and the unexpected.

Oh, and by the way, Foster had 19 points to lead the way for Guthrie against El Reno on Thursday night.
