Recruiting: Bronson Irwin Taking Looks

In talking with offensive tackle prospect Bronson Irwin of Mustang, Okla., a sure fire top-20 prospect when I put the Midlands together for SuperPrep Magazine, I reminded him of the playoff game this past season. I watched him specifically in the Broncos win over favored Broken Arrow and was very impressed. "It was a good game," said Irwin modestly.

Irwin has jettisoned himself to the top of the offensive line prospects in Oklahoma for the 2010 class and the 6-5, 305-pounder from Mustang already has seven offers to show for it. In order, Tulsa, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Arizona, Vanderbilt, Alabama, and Oregon have made scholarship offers. Irwin said he grew up an Oklahoma fan, so that offer was pretty exciting.

"My mom graduated from OU and I went to their Junior Day and we've have season tickets, so I have kind of grown up with the program," he explained. "Getting the OU offer was an honor, just having grown up with it and the tradition and history."

So is it a foregone conclusion he will wind up in Norman? "I am considering all of them and I don't really know yet what I want to major in (business or something in the medical field)," answered Irwin.

"Obviously, I want to find a school that would be strong in my area of study and really a school and a program that I am comfortable being around, that fits me and the kind of person and player I am. A program that is my style."

As far as Oklahoma State, Irwin said he is comfortable with checking them out too. "I have been to their camp the last two summers," he said. "I have called up there and talked to Coach (Joe) Wickline several times. We've talked quite a bit and I am going to their Junior Day up there on Feb. 28."

The talented Irwin has thrown the shot and the discus for years past in track but this spring he is focused on the offseason program at Mustang and getting even bigger and stronger as well as working on his quickness and agility.

Irwin is a very talented lineman and whichever school and program ends up with him in their 2010 class, they will be very happy about it.
