Recruiting: Wilson Says OSU In The Running

One of the Texans that is getting mammoth attention is Haltom City defensive end Reggie Wilson. Is all the attention going to Wilson's head? I think you have to be able to catch the sarcasm when he answers the phone. "Reggie Wilson. Reggie the Great," said Wilson when answering our call laughing.

It is understandable as Wilson has offers from the likes of Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and so many others. It is a list that includes Oklahoma State.

"You would have to talk to my coach as he has the exact list but it is just about every school I can think of," said Wilson of his list of offers. "It seems like everybody, but as far as what I am going to do, I'm not sure yet. I have to talk to my parents and that is what is going to decide. My parents are going to be involved and I am going to take my time."

The 6-3 1/2, 232-pound Wilson finished last season with 87 total tackles and 12 tackles for loss. He caused several fumbles as well this season. He was on the All District team in 3-5A and he was showing his abilities as a sophomore when he earned Defensive Newcomer of the Year with 54 tackles and six sacks.

"He's the best defensive end I've coached and the best I've been around," said Haltom head coach Scot Hafley.

"I want to major in business and all the schools are in contention," said Wilson. "I'm not sure when I will commit. I will see and again. It is a lot about talking to my parents."

He said Oklahoma State is one of those schools. "I will really check them out along with the others," said Wilson. "I know about the Cowboys and I would say that is a school that I would want to get to and visit and see what they have."

It's obviously early with Wilson and recruiting, trying to make Junior Days, like the one at Oklahoma State this Saturday, will have to share attention with track. Wilson is running again for Haltom and will run the 100 and 200 meters. His 6-3 1/2, 232-pound frame should look rather imposing in the starting block with some of those smaller sprinters.
