Recruiting: Burleson An Impressive Lineman

Offensive line prospect Luke Burleson of Allen, Texas, was one of the more impressive looking juniors on the Oklahoma State campus this past Saturday for Junior Day. The Cowboys recruiting event was somewhat dominated by linemen as we eyeballed some of the juniors prior to the basketball game they attended between OSU and Texas.

Burleson, who was there along with fellow Allen offensive linemen Cedric Ogbuehi, was an impressive player. The two were starters on the Eagles Class 5A state champs this season that defeated Fort Bend Hightower for the Division I 5A title.

Burleson is 6-6, 274 pounds with a reported 5.6 in the forty. He has a 260-pound bench press max and a 470-pound best in the squat. Ogbuehi is reportedly 6-5, 269 pounds with a 5.2 in the forty.

Burleson said that while he played tackle last season his coach at Allen has talked about moving him to guard this fall. He has been hearing from Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, Kansas, Kansas State, and North Texas among other schools. He said he liked what he saw at OSU on Saturday.

"I thought it was pretty nice and had a lot to offer," said Burleson of Oklahoma State. "I was really impressed with the community it was in, Stillwater. I think that is a nice town and one I could feel at home in.

"I was pretty impressed with Coach (Joe) Wickline," continued Burleson. "You could tell he has a lot of experience and he knows what he is doing."

Burleson said he is looking to major in wildlife management or environmental science. He likes to hunt and fish and those majors fall right in line with his interests. Burleson also said campus environment along with academics would play a major role in which school he chooses to attend. He really has no time table for a decision and is still feeling out the recruiting process.
