Recruiting: Daryl Williams Has A Good Day

We caught up with offensive tackle prospect Daryl Williams of Lake Dallas, Texas at a really good time Thursday.

"I'm at a track meet but I've got time (to talk)," said the 6-6, 270-pound Williams with plenty of noise in the background. "I'm finished competing. I won the shot put. I threw 50 something. We're at a meet in Azle. Oh, I also got a scholarship offer today from Nebraska."

A good day all around for Williams with the medal in the shot put and a sixth scholarship offer, this one coming from Nebraska. Williams has offers from TCU, Baylor, Missouri, Houston, and Texas Tech to go with the new offer from the Huskers.

He has the size, strength, and quickness (5.29 in the forty) to be a standout at offensive tackle. He has been to three schools as he has traveled around with his teammate and Lake Dallas quarterback James Franklin. The pair have been to Oklahoma State for Junior Day and Oklahoma.

They also made it up to Missouri and close by to TCU. Williams said the important thing for him now is to start looking in depth at the schools to see which one best fits what he is looking for.

"The first thing for me is education," said Williams. "I'm thinking about psychology as a major, but I'm not sure. I'm also looking for a good team with a good coaching staff that really cares about their players. I know a lot of people say that but it is really important to me."

Williams said he doesn't have a timetable for his decision but it is something that occupies his thought a lot these days. He also knows that more schools will come by and see him during spring football in May and that his offer and options may be expanded, but he is glad he has a good list of schools that he is working from right now. It hasn't bothered his shot put form at all.
