Recruiting: Evans Is In Good Shape

There are so many more scholarship offers to be passed out but to be sitting right now with eight or nine offers is a really good position to be in. It's the position cornerback Ciante Evans of Arlington (Seguin), Texas is sitting.

"Oh yeah, it's kind of wild and it is kind of crazy to think that those schools are chasing you to come play football for them," said Evans. "I'm up to eight or nine offers and it is good."

The 6-0, 175-pound Evans runs a 4.5 and said he is winding down track season right now. He finished last season with four interceptions on a playoff team that had lots of team success.

Among the schools that have offered Evans are Oklahoma State, Colorado State, Kansas, Nebraska, Houston, TCU, and Texas A&M. There are still a multitude that are sending letters and communicating with him.

"Nothing strong yet. I haven't narrowed it down at all," said Evans. "Oklahoma State was one that offered me several weeks ago. Coach (Doug) Meacham is recruiting me for Oklahoma State and he seems like a real nice guy.

"My education is what is most important in my decision," added Evans. "I'm not sure yet what I want to major in but I want to know for each schools what the ratio is of student-athletes that are graduating. That really matters."

Evans said he was looking forward to the start of spring football at Seguin High School and said it should be in the next week or so. He is also looking forward to May as a number of coaches have promised to stop by and see him. Evans also said he really isn't close to a decision. He has a long way to go.
