"I have a track meet in Muskogee tomorrow," said the 6-7, 275-pound Spurgeon. "After the track meet we are going up to Lawrence to check out Kansas. My track team was going to go up and compete in the Kansas Relays but they decided not to, so we decided to go up there and look."
Asked if he'd been to Kansas before, Spurgeon said he had but not to check out the football program. Spurgeon has been to both Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. He has also been out to Lubbock, Texas to check out Texas Tech.
He is now up to 13 scholarship offers with the latest schools joining the list being Baylor and Iowa State. Some of his other offers include Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Missouri, Kansas State, and Stanford.
Spurgeon said his spring is going well and that other than the new offers not much is happening in recruiting.
