Recruiting: Stephens Likes What He Sees

Galena Park (North Shore), Texas was represented well at last Saturday's Orange-White spring football game as incoming freshman cornerback Andrae May was joined by current recruits cornerback Larry Stephens, safety Eric Ruben, and safety Alton Denby. The 5-11, 175-pound Stephens has an Oklahoma State offer, and has a new offer from Baylor. He said he liked what he saw in Stillwater last weekend.

"It was good, really good and I liked it," said the quiet Stephens. "I liked the campus, the facilities, and the coaches. It was all pretty nice."

Stephens, who said he has no timetable on his decision, said he will make a return trip to Oklahoma State.

"I want to go back and see more," he said. "I would like to go back and catch a game or two this season. I will take an official visit there."

Stephens said it could help that his former teammate Andrae May is up there. It gives him somebody he knows well.

Stephens simply sounds like a prospect that is in the early stages of recruiting and hasn't totally developed a game plan or timetable. Many think that should already happen but remember many things change after the next several weeks as the coaching staffs are out on the road and even their minds will change and they will see new players they like.

Stephens is in good shape and will have a better grip on his recruiting picture after the month of May.
