Recruiting: Catlin Commits To Cowboys

Standout linebacker Kris Catlin from San Antonio (Madison), Texas, informed the Cowboys coaching staff Wednesday afternoon that he is verbally committed to Oklahoma State. Catlin's father, Carl, confirmed that Kris had indeed made the pledge.

"Yes, Kris called Coach (Glenn) Spencer earlier to tell him that he was committed to Oklahoma State," said Carl Catlin. "I'm very happy, ecstatic about his decision.

"I felt the love from Oklahoma State and from Coach Spencer and Coach Gundy," added Mr. Catlin, who had accompanied Kris to Stillwater in the spring for an unofficial visit where they received a tour of the facilities, watched spring practice, and met with the coaching staff. "I really like Stillwater and I like where this program is going."

Catlin has always seemingly had Oklahoma State in his top group of schools as the 6-1, 215-pound linebacker had offers from Illinois, Houston, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Colorado, and Arizona.

Catlin combines strength with athleticism as he runs a 4.64 in the forty and was a sprinter on the Madison track squad. He has a 330-pound max on the bench and a 450 on the squat. He also has a 32-inch vertical jump.

He finished with 98 tackles last season to earn first team All-District 26-5A honors. He is considered one of the top linebacker prospects in the state.

Catlin is expected to call us later as we left a message with his mother. We will update this story with his comments on the commitment after visiting with him.
