Recruiting: Deaton OK After Injury

Oklahoma State quarterback commitment Johnny Deaton of Sand Springs (Charles Page), Okla., was injured in football drills the other day in the Northern Exposure team camp involving Sand Springs, Sperry, Oologah, and Tulsa Central held at Sand Springs.

Deaton, who led Class 6A in rushing last season while leading the resurgent Sandites to the playoffs, injured an ankle. He had X-rays and those were negative.

"Yes sir, I'm good," texted Deaton to Go Pokes when asked about the injury and being on crutches. "It was just a good sprain."

Deaton, who we reported on earlier this week was working hard to make strides as a team and as a player this spring and early summer, has plenty of time to let that sprain heal. He will lead the Sandites' spread offense this fall in search of advancing past the first round in the playoffs and preparing himself for his college career at Oklahoma State.
