The 6-0, 180-pound Colvin went on a summer camp tour that resulted in scholarship offers from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tulsa, and Oklahoma State. He earned those offers the old fashioned way by impressing the coaches in person at the camps.
Colvin has talked since that run of offers that he was wanting to come to a decision soon. Today he texted this message out to various friends, family, and those following his recruitment. "Hi everyone," opened the text. "Just letting everyone know I'm deciding on Sunday."
We couldn't hold on that so we immediately contacted Colvin. "Yes, I'm making an announcement on Sunday," he said. "I think it will be on television, on Channel 6 I think."
Asked if he meant Channel 8 or if it was Channel 6 and the statewide Sports Blitz, he said, "It's Channel 6 and the Sports Blitz, those guys."
It will be a busy final weekend.
"On Sunday I'm going to that (Rivals) National Top 100 camp, I don't know where it is. My dad does. I'm going to OSU on Saturday and their camp to hang around with Coach (Jason) Jones.
"It doesn't mean anything that I'm in Norman on Sunday. That National Top 100 camp is in Norman, I knew that. It doesn't mean anything that I'm in Stillwater with Coach Jones on Saturday," he added.
Colvin did not say, but you would think it would be crazy if he was at OSU and OU on the weekend he is committing, that it doesn't end up being one of those schools. Colvin said we will have to wait to find out. He said he is not going to leak his decision before Sunday.
Colvin also has offers from Missouri, UNLV, and North Texas. He has excellent feet and very good cover skills in addition to being a physical player.
