Recruiting: Porter Confirms It Is OSU Or Tech

We have a quick update with Midwest City (Carl Albert), Okla. defensive back Tre'Vante Porter. One of the top defensive back prospects in the Midlands, according to SuperPrep Magazine, Porter recently made a weekend trip out to Lubbock, Texas, to visit Texas Tech. Porter said he will likely make a decision later this month and it is down to two.

"OSU or Texas Tech," said Porter in that order. "Yes, the trip to Texas Tech went very well. I got to see them practice but the big thing was the academics. That was really impressive. I'm looking to major in sports medicine or sports psychology."

Porter has been to the Oklahoma State campus on multiple occasions with the most recent one being the July 25 half-day camp. Porter ran a 4.48 in the forty that day. He is good friends with current Cowboy freshman Daytawion Lowe.

The 6-0, 170-pound missile had 94 tackles and four interceptions last season for the Class 5A state runner-up Titans, and earned honorable mention All-State and second team All-City. Tuesday it was back to practice for the Titans.

"Yeah, practice went good even though we couldn't get on the field," said Porter of what the all night thunderstorms did to the first day of high school practice in Oklahoma. "It was too muddy so we were on the blacktop behind the stadium."

Carl Albert is a favorite this season in 5A after being a runner-up last year, and they open the season on Sept. 4 in a rematch of the Class 5A championship game with Tulsa Washington. On Aug. 21 they will scrimmage Del City and Tulsa Bishop Kelley at Del City.
