Recruiting: Shaun Lewis Picks OSU

Shaun Lewis, the nation's sixth-best outside linebacker according to Scout.com, verbally committed to Oklahoma State this morning, Clifton Lewis, his dad, confirmed to GoPokes.com. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound linebacker from Missouri City (Hightower), Texas, picked Oklahoma State over LSU, Miami and Texas A&M.

"Yes, he verbally committed to Oklahoma State," said Clifton Lewis. "Basically, he felt it was a comfortable fit for him ... and believes it is the best place for him."

Clifton Lewis said the family discussed his options but it was a decision that the Hightower High School senior had to make on his own.

"My main thing is when we talked about it was that I wanted him to go to the school where he felt comfortable. I told him to make the decision based on where he felt it was best for him because it was where he would be spending the next four or five years, and not me," Clifton Lewis said.

"I think he's excited to get it out of the way because now he can concentrate on his senior season of football. He can concentrate on the football season without any distractions, I hope," he added.

Did Mr. Lewis have any message for the Oklahoma State fans? "Just tell them that we're excited that he chose Oklahoma State, and we're looking forward to next football season when he's up there," he added.
