Recruiting: Porter To Announce Next Wednesday

Defensive back and all-around offensive threat Tre'Vante Porter of Midwest City (Carl Albert), Okla., confirmed in a text Thursday night that he will make his college decision public next Wednesday with an announcement at his high school. The 6-0, 185-pound Porter has been the focus of a number of schools. However, after a summer of taking it in, Porter has declared it is down to two.

"OSU or Texas Tech," said Porter in that order when he spoke to us last on phone following a weekend unofficial trip to Texas Tech in early August. "Yes, the trip to Texas Tech went very well. I got to see them practice but the big thing was the academics. That was really impressive. I'm looking to major in sports medicine or sports psychology."

Porter has been to the Oklahoma State campus on multiple occasions with the most recent one being the July 25 half-day camp. Porter ran a 4.48 in the forty that day. He is good friends with current Cowboy freshman Daytawion Lowe.

The 6-0, 185-pound missile had 94 tackles and four interceptions last season for the Class 5A state runner-up Titans, and earned honorable mention All-State and second team All-City.

Oklahoma City area fans can see Porter on Friday night as the Titans will be at Del City High School for a scrimmage with the Del City Eagles, and Bishop Kelley and Owasso making the drive down the turnpike from the Tulsa area.
