Cowboy Coaches Off To Recruit

One of the advantages to the open or bye week is that it allows you to send your coaches out on the road for recruiting. The staff gets so many days and evaluations during the fall recruiting.

For the scaled down practice in Stillwater on Thursday, head coach Mike Gundy, defensive coordinator Bill Young, and co-offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer were in town. That is what we believe. Here is where we think the Cowboys coaches are on the road Thursday and Fridayt with their recruiting activities.

Associate head coach Joe DeForest - Houston (checking in on Shaun Lewis, Kevin Johnson, Larry Stephens, Joe Okafor, Stephen Maeweather)

Co-offensive coordinator Joe Wickline - East Texas (checking in on LaVocheya Cooper, Gerron Anthony, Chris Dinkins)

Quarterbacks coach Robert Matthews - Dallas (looking at 2011 recruits including L.D. Bell running back Kenneth Farrow, defensive back Kenneth Buyers)

Passing coordinator and tight ends coach Doug Meacham - Arlington and Fort Worth (watching Dunbar wide receiver Darius White and checking on commitments Diamonte Wheeler and Montra Nelson)

Linebackers coach Glenn Spencer - San Antonio (pure guess that he is down there to watch Kris Catlin, Tommie Saunders and Zack Craig)

Co-offensive coordinator Gunter Brewer - Texarkana (our guess is he goes to see Nathan Sorenson play on Friday)

Defensive coordinator Bill Young - (Chris Littlehead thought Young and Gundy were coming to his game on Friday)

Cornerbacks coach Jason Jones - (unknown)

Running backs coach Robert Gillespie - (unknown))
