Recruiting: Randle Lists Frequent Callers

Running back Joseph Randle of Wichita (Southeast), Kan., took off on the first play from scrimmage last Friday night against Wichita Northwest and went 44 yards down the sideline for a touchdown.

Randle finished he game with 11 carries for 71 yards and the score, but Northwest won 33-19 on the strength of Kansas State commitment Demarcus Robinson, who rushed for 274 yards on 36 carries and three touchdowns. Randle couldn't get the ball enough and neither could Southeast because of turnovers.

"We're doing good. I mean we've lost more games than we should but we're bringing it back around," said Randle taking the positive team approach. "We start district play in another week and a half and that is what is important. That is what will get us in the playoffs."

Randle has had his share of highlights this season, but he could have more as Southeast has struggled at times in going 2-3. They will take on Wichita North this week before starting district play against a tough Derby team a week from Friday.

"I know they are good, really good, but I think we can beat 'em," said Randle of Derby. "They have that one defensive back that signed (is committed) with Oklahoma State."

Speaking of recruting, the 6-0 1/2, 190-pound speedster said he has five schools that are calling most frequently.

"It's just calls, calls every day," said Randle of recruiting. "You know they can call once a week and Kansas, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Missouri, and Boston College are the schools that call me all the time. Those are the ones that call every week."

Randle attended the Oklahoma State win over Georgia and said he really enjoyed that unofficial visit. "I'm wanting to take an official at Oklahoma State soon," he added. "I'd like to do that real soon."

Randle gave no hint of what his timetable is in recruiting as of now. The most important thing coming up is that district schedule.
