John Tyler hit the 50-point mark for a school record fourth consecutive game in defeating Mesquite 52-17 on Friday night.

Washington (Tulsa, Okla.) HS Hornets
The Hornets defeated Tulsa Hale 24-8 on Thursday night to improve to 5-2.

Madison (San Antonio) HS Mavericks
The Mavericks improved to 5-1 with Friday night's 21-14 overtime victory over San Antonio Churchill.

LAVOCHEYA COOPER, S (6-1, 185)
Arp (Texas) HS Tigers
Cooper and the No. 1-ranked Class 2A Arp Tigers improved to 6-0 with Friday night's 48-14 victory over Troup. Cooper rushed for 124 yards on just 12 carries, and also had a 28-yard touchdown reception in leading the Tigers to the victory.

ZACK CRAIG, DB (6-2, 155)
Smithson Valley (Texas) HS Rangers
Smithson Valley, 4-3, has a bye week before returning to action against San Antonio Churchill on Friday, Oct. 23.

JOHNNY DEATON, QB (6-2, 190)
Charles Page (Sand Springs, Okla.), HS Sandites
Deaton returned to action for the first time since suffering a broken collarbone the first week of the season. He completed 10 of 19 passes for 85 yards, including a 35-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter, and had a 17-yard run to set up another touchdown but it wasn't enough as Sand Springs suffered a 49-21 loss to third-ranked Class 6A Broken Arrow on Thursday night. The Sandites are now 3-4 overall and 1-3 in District 6A-3.

CHRIS DINKINS, S (6-4, 290)
Lee (Tyler, Texas) HS Red Raiders
A Hail Mary-type pass to Dinkins on the game's final play was intercepted and the Red Raiders came up short in their upset bid against DeSoto, 28-21, on Friday night. Dinkins did lead the Red Raiders with 53 rushing yards as they fell to 1-5 overall and 1-1 in district play, while DeSoto improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0.

JUSTIN GILBERT, WR (6-0, 178)
Huntsville (Texas) HS Hornets
Huntsville used a late goal-line stand to preserve an 18-15 homecoming victory over Montgomery on Friday night.

DEVIN HEDGEPETH, CB (6-0, 190)
Derby (Kan.) HS Panthers
Hedgepeth caught two passes for 20 yards, including an 11-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter, and also rushed for 28 yards on four carries in helping Derby defeat Wichita Southeast 17-12 on Friday night.

Rowlett (Texas) HS Eagles
Rowlett, 1-6 overall and 0-3 in District 10-5A, suffered a 14-5 loss to Garland on Thursday night.

KEVIN JOHNSON, WR (6-2, 200)
Cypress Ridge (Houston) HS Rams
Johnson had three catches for 65 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter, of Saturday's 50-34 loss to Cypress Falls.

Cape Coral (Fla.) HS Seahawks
Cape Coral defeated Island Coast 32-0 on Friday night to improve to 6-0.

Celina (Texas) HS Bobcats
Lavey had about 10 tackles for Celina but the Bobcats suffered a 38-14 loss to rival Prosper on Friday night.

Hightower (Fort Bend, Texas) HS Hurricanes
Lewis and the Hightower defense shut down the high-powered Fort Bend Elkins offense which entered the game averaging more than 28 points a game, as the Hurricanes won 23-0 to improve to 7-0.
