Future Cowboys: This Week's Playoff Results

Each week throughout the season GoPokes.com will track the progress of the 24 high school football players who have verbally committed to sign with Oklahoma State next February. Here are the results from this week's playoff games.

GERRON ANTHONY, OL (6-4, 290)
John Tyler (Tyler, Texas) HS Lions
The Lions rolled up a season-high 593 yards in Friday night's 49-21 victory over Copperas Cove to open the Class 5A Division II playoffs. The Lions, now 10-1, advance to face Richardson Lake Highlands in a rematch of last year's playoffs in which Lake Highlands captured a 28-27 win.

CALVIN BARNETT, DT (6-3, 305)
Washington (Tulsa, Okla.) HS Hornets
The Hornets completed their scandal-ridden season last week. Although they won eight of the 10 games they played during the regular season, the Hornets finished with a 5-5 record after being forced to forfeit three games after using ineligible players. The forfeits caused the defending Class 5A state champions to miss the playoffs.

KRIS CATLIN, LB (6-2, 210)
Madison (San Antonio) HS Mavericks
Madison's season came to a heart-breaking end Friday night when Austin Westlake scored with eight seconds left to capture a 31-27 victory in a first-round playoff game of the Class 5A Division I playoffs. The Mavericks, who had climbed to as high as No.2 in the statewide polls at one point in the season, finish with a 6-4 record.

LAVOCHEYA COOPER, S (6-1, 185)
Arp (Texas) HS Tigers
Cooper gained more yards than Arp's first-round playoff opponent in leading the No. 1-ranked Class 2A Tigers to a 37-0 victory over Franklin on Friday night. The OSU commit ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns as the Tigers improved to 11-0.

ZACK CRAIG, DB (6-2, 155)
Smithson Valley (Texas) HS Rangers
Smithson Valley finished the season with a 6-4 record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

JOHNNY DEATON, QB (6-2, 190)
Charles Page (Sand Springs, Okla.), HS Sandites
Sand Springs finished the season with a 4-6 record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

CHRIS DINKINS, S (6-4, 290)
Lee (Tyler, Texas) HS Red Raiders
Dinkins rushed for 57 yards on nine carries, and also caught one pass as Tyler Lee defeated A&M Consolidated 38-20 on Saturday afternoon in a Class 5A Division I Region II bi-district playoff game in Corsicana. The Red Raiders (5-5) advance to face Garland next Saturday.

JUSTIN GILBERT, WR (6-0, 178)
Huntsville (Texas) HS Hornets
Gilbert scored two toucdowns – the first on a thrilling 46-yard run on his team's first possession of the game – as Huntsville captured its first playoff victory since 1991 with a 45-14 victory over Buda Hays in a Class 4A Division I bi-district playoff game on Saturday.

DEVIN HEDGEPETH, CB (6-0, 190)
Derby (Kan.) HS Panthers
Hedgepeth played a huge role in Derby's 19-7 victory over Dodge City in a Class 6A quarterfinal playoff game despite not scoring a touchdown. The Derby senior caught five passes for 123 yards, including three catches that set up Panther touchdowns. The Panthers, now 8-3, advance to the 6A semifinals for the second year in a row.

DEION IMADE, S (6-0, 177)
Rowlett (Texas) HS Eagles
Rowlett's season came to an end Friday night as Skyline rolled to a 38-0 victory in a Class 5A Division I playoff game. The Eagles finish 4-7.

JACOB JENKINS, OL (6-3, 260) Gilmer (Texas) HS Buckeyes
The No. 1-ranked Gilmer Buckeyes (11-0) rolled to an easy 57-21 victory over Jasper on Saturday in a first-round Class 3A Division I playoff game.

Next: 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, vs. Waco La Vega (7-4) in a Class 3A Division I Region III playoff game, at Mesquite's Memorial Stadium.

KEVIN JOHNSON, WR (6-2, 200)
Cypress Ridge (Houston) HS Rams
Johnson, playing quarterback for the Rams, threw for 178 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for another 58 yards in leading Cypress Ridge to a thrilling 39-36 overtime victory over Cedar Park on Friday night in a Class 5A Division II Region II bi-district playoff game. Johnson threw first-half touchdown passes of 12, 68 and 48 yards as the Rams went up 33-7 at halftime. But Cedar Park rallied to go ahead 36-33 with less than a minute to play before Cypress Ridge kicked a 45-yard field goal to send the game into overtime.

DAN KOENIG, OL (6-6, 260)
Cape Coral (Fla.) HS Seahawks
Cape Coral capped a perfect 10-0 regular season – the first in 16 years for the school – with Friday night's 28-7 victory over Lehigh. The Seahawks open the Class 4A playoffs next week.

CALEB LAVEY, LB (6-3, 210)
Celina (Texas) HS Bobcats
Lavey led the Bobcat defense with a dozen tackles and an interception, and they combined to sack the quarterback seven times, in Friday night's 35-14 victory over previously undefeated Van Alstyne in a Class 3A Division II bi-district game.

Hightower (Fort Bend, Texas) HS Hurricanes
Hightower, 11-0, defeated Galveston Ball 48-21 on Saturday in a Class 5A Division I Region III first-round playoff game. Next: 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, vs. Beaumont West Brook (8-3) in a Class 5A Division I second-round playoff game, at Houston's Galena Park ISD Stadium.

CHRIS LITTLEHEAD, DT (6-3, 305)
Sequoyah (Tahlequah, Okla.) HS Indians
Tahlequah Sequoyah's undefeated season came to a shocking end Friday night as Sperry upset the third-ranked Indians 28-14 in a Class 2A first-round playoff game.

Sharpstown (Houston) HS Apollos
Sharpstown saw its season come to an end Saturday with a 41-22 loss the Houston Jones in a Class 4A Divison II first-round playoff game.

MONTRA NELSON, WR (6-3, 215)
Bowie (Arlington, Texas) HS Volunteers
Nelson only had one catch and it went for minus-2 yards but Arlington Bowie opened the playoffs Thursday night with a 42-30 victory over Richland in a Class 5A Division II bi-district game. The Vols, now 9-2, advance to face the winner of the El Paso Montwood-Amarillo first-round game.

Bellaire (Houston) HS Cardinals
Bellaire finished the season with a 3-7 record.

JOSEPH RANDLE, RB (6-1, 200)
Wichita (Southeast) HS Golden Buffaloes
Randle finished his senior season with 1,107 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns as the Golden Buffaloes closed out the regular season with a 4-5 record.

TOMMIE SAUNDERS, S (6-1, 195)
Madison (San Antonio) HS Mavericks

Sorenson threw one touchdown pass – a 19-yarder to Caleb Adams – and rushed for 87 yards as Texas High held on for a 22-20 victory over Jacksonville in a Class 4A Divison I playoff game Saturday at Nacogdoches.

ISAAC MASELERA, S (6-0, 190)
Glenpool (Okla.) Warriors
Glenpool, ranked No. 1 in Class 4A much of the season, was upset by Oklahoma City Douglass 14-0 in a first-round playoff game Friday night. The Warriors, the defending 4A state champions, finish the season 9-2 after winning nine in a row before losing to Oklahoma City Star Spencer in the final week of the regular season and then to Douglass in the playoff game.
