Barnett Named A U.S. Army All-American

Oklahoma State commitment Calvin Barnett, a four-star recruit who is ranked as the 15th-best defensive tackle prospect in the nation, will be playing in the 10th annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl on national television (NBC) in January. Barnett's selection was announced Monday at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa.

"This honor means so much," Barnett was quoted as saying in the Tulsa World. "When I found out (in the spring) I really couldn't believe it. It's going to be real fun competing against some of the best players in the nation."

The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Barnett is currently the only Oklahoma high school player selected to play in the game, scheduled for Jan. 9, 2010, in the Alamodome in San Antonio. Barnett will be a member of West team.

Barnett is one of three defensive tackles that are committed to sign with Oklahoma State in February. The others are Chris Littlehead of Tahlequah (Sequoyah), Okla., and Diamonte Wheeler of Arlington (Bowie), Texas.

"In the last 10 years that haven't been a lot of players from Oklahoma selected for this game, so this is a tremendous for Calvin, Booker T. Washington High School and the football program here," Hornets interim head coach Wade Weller told the World.
