Recruiting: Hedgepeth Ready For Visit

Talking with cornerback Devin Hedgepeth of Derby, Kan., we learned that the 5-11, 180-pound speedster has something else in common with Celina, Texas linebacker Caleb Lavey. Both will vbe visiting Oklhaoma State this weekend, and Hedgepeth, like Lavey, will be starting college in January.

"Yes, I will be reporting in January for midterm," said Hedgepeth. "I am finishing up my academic work right now and I used to play basketball after football but I won't be doing that as I will be at Oklahoma State. I also got back to working out this week."

The early arrivals that we know about for Mike Gundy and Co. this spring are Hedgepeth, Lavey, and also Sand Springs, Okla., quarterback Johnny Deaton of Sand Springs, Okla.

Besides Hedgepeth and Lavey this weekend it also has been confirmed that All-American wide receiver Darius White and his family will be making an official visit.

Hedgepeth just recently finished his senior football season at Derby. He said he had more than 50 catches for over 900 yards playing wide receiver on offense. He also caught eight touchdown passes and had some other rushing touchdowns. On defense he had three interceptions.

"We were 9-4 and I was pretty pleased with the way our season went except the way we finished," said Hedgepeth. "It was in sub state (vs. Wichita Heights) and we were on the 1-yard line when the clock ran out. We had driven the entire field in the last two and a half minutes of the game and we were that close to winning. All in all it was really a good season."

Again, Hedgepeth will make his official visit to Oklahoma State this weekend.
