Recruiting: White Tells Coach Trip Went Well

It is not earth shattering information that will light up TMZ but Fort Worth Dunbar High School head coach Todd Lawson said he did speak with one of his star football players Monday and found that his trip to Oklahoma State this weekend went well. We are talking about top-rated wide receiver Darius White.

"I saw him this afternoon when he came down for athletics and he said the trip went real well." said Lawson. "That is about all he said about it, and I really didn't quiz him a lot on it.

"He said that he enjoyed himself and he also said his mom enjoyed herself. His mom and his two little brothers went on the trip. They all went with him," Lawson said.

Lawson said the 6-4, 210-pound White is a tremendous football player and athlete. Dunbar is really known for their outstanding and nationally ranked basketball teams. Lawson said this year the team was young and they struggled some starting out.

"You know without Darius and Rashod (Favors) with them involved in football and that is when the team played some of their tough opponents like DeSoto and some others," added Lawson. "Now Darius and Rashod are playing and that is helping. Darius is also a really talented basketball player. They play again on Tuesday night."

Now as for the recruiting front, I asked Coach Lawson if he knew if Darius was taking any other visits.

"You know before this weekend he had talked about going to Oklahoma next weekend (Dec. 19) after his basketball game on Friday," answered Lawson. "I did not confirm that with him today, so I'm not certain.

"He is set to make his decision at the All-American Game on Jan. 2," added Lawson of the UnderArmour All-American Game in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Lawson said he is going along with White on that trip and they do leave on Dec. 28.

Besides Oklahoma State, OU, Texas, and LSU seem to be in the recruiting picture for White.
