Brown Ready To Make A Difference

The average Oklahoma State fan probably couldn't have told you much about Brodrick Brown a week ago, if they even knew that he was a member of the Cowboy football team. But the Cowboy Nation knows all about the 5-foot-8, 180-pound redshirt freshman after he filled in admirably for the suspended Perrish Cox in Saturday's Cotton Bowl. We spent a few minutes visiting with Brown after the Cotton Bowl.

When did you find out that you'd be starting?
Brown: The day before the game.

How'd you find out?
Brown: My position coach, Coach (Jason) Jones, told me.

Did he call you or pull you aside in a team meeting?
Brown: Actually, I was going back to my room and he got me, and said, ‘You're going to be the starter in tomorrow's game.'

Did you know at that time that Perrish Cox has been suspended and you'd be replacing him?
Brown: No, I didn't know until breakfast that morning.

How do you think you played in your first start?
Brown: I feel I played pretty good. I played with great confidence. I played like I was coached to play, and did everything I was supposed to do.

How much fun was it being out there on the field on a full-time basis after only playing in four games this season?
Brown: It was amazing. It was amazing. It was an experience … you never know when you'll get another chance to play in a stadium like this. I just went out there and gave it my all.

Does your performance against Ole Miss (three tackles and one pass broken up) give you some confidence entering spring practice? Do you believe you showed enough to enter spring drills as a starter at cornerback?
Brown: Of course, but you never know what's going to happen in the future. I'm going to have confidence from now on, and I feel like I can stop anybody. Hopefully, I'll be the man next year.
