Recruiting: Anthony, Others Still Playing

Defensive tackle and Oklahoma State commit Calvin Barnett of Tulsa (Washington), Okla., is not the only Cowboy pledge that is involved in an All-American Game this weekend. While Barnett is playing in the U.S. Army All-American Game, there are three Oklahoma State commitments that are in the Austin, Texas area preparing to play in Saturday's Max Emfinger All-American Bowl at 4 p.m. in Round Rock.

Among those is offensive lineman Gerron Anthony of Tyler (John Tyler), Texas.

"Yes, we're down here getting ready to play in the All-American Bowl," said Anthony. "Deion (Imade) is here and so is Chris (Littlehead). The game is in Round Rock and it is supposed to be on Fox Sports or ESPN or something. They are treating us good, feeding us good. We are having fun, yes sir."

Anthony, like a lot of Oklahoma State commitments, is scheduled to make his official visit on Jan. 15. The 6-4, 312-pounder said he is solid with his Oklahoma State pledge.

John Tyler made a deep run into the Texas Class 5A playoffs and Anthony said he had a really good season. In fact, Anthony made the first team All District 11-5A squad and received some mention for All-State as well as being All-East Texas. He also said he took it easy over the holidays before getting prepared to come down to central Texas for one last high school game this Saturday.

"It (holidays) was good," he added. "I just chilled with my girl."

Anthony said he will continue training through the spring and wants to be in good shape for when he reports to Stillwater and Oklahoma State in the summer.
