Recruiting: DT Myers Impressed With OSU

Defensive tackle Connor Myers of Edmond (Memorial), Okla., said he enjoyed his trip to Oklahoma State for the Cowboys first Junior Day on Sunday. Myers has been on a Junior Day tour lately having been to Oklahoma State after also hitting Tulsa, Missouri, and Kansas.

"It (OSU) was real cool," said Myers, who admitted he grew up an OU fan but rooted for Oklahoma State against everybody but Oklahoma. "I loved it up there.

"The facilities are first class, the best of everything, and I really liked meeting the coaches. I did get a chance to talk to Coach Bill Young, the defensive line coach. There were so many people there, but I felt I got to see what I needed to see. I would like to go back," said Myers.

Myers was a major force with six sacks for the Bulldogs defense as Edmond had one of its best seasons in some time. Myers has an interesting background as he grew up very competitive in taekwondo. He competed in events nationally and even internationally and that really allowed the 6-1, 280-pounder to become very good with his feet and extremely agile for his size. Although he no longer competes in the sport the discipline gained continues to help him.

Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel and assistant coach Josh Henson showed a lot of interest in January and came by Memorial to personally watch him workout.

"I was impressed by that," said Myers. "I think they want to see me play on offense. I can do that but I really love playing on defense. They say they like me on defense too.

"When I was up at Kansas I talked to the defensive line coach Buddy Wyatt a little bit and it seems Kansas is interested in me for defense. I also had fun at the Tulsa Junior Day."

Myers said he may be finished for now on Junior Days, but he informed us he had just heard from Arizona and wanted them to know he was interested in them as well.

"I'm thinking that I will go to camps with some of these schools, but I am looking at going to two or three," he said. "I really think I will go to OSU camp, Missouri camp, and then our team camp is at Tulsa, so I will be up there too."

He added that Texas A&M is another school he might consider for camp.
