Oddly enough, the talented wide receiver and cornerback for the Wolverines is a native of South Carolina and was born in Orangeburg, S.C.
He said he also grew up rooting for the Gamecocks and he has an offer from South Carolina along with Louisville, Baylor, East Carolina, and Oregon State. That is a wide ranging group of schools geographically.
"I'm still wide open, and Oklahoma State, Arizona, and Texas Tech are also contacting me and recruiting me."
There's a good reason he's hearing from so many different schools. Zimmerman runs a 4.4 in the forty and he competes in track in the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relays, along with the 200 meters.
A three-sport standout he also competes in basketball as a guard at Lawton. In football last season he was second team All-State as a defensive back with 61 tackles. On offense he may have been even better at wide receiver with 54 receptions for 945 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Zimmerman has good size for a cornerback at 6-0, 180 pounds.
Zimmerman says he doesn't know if he is going to attend any camps this summer but he does plan on checking out some schools.
"I want to major in criminal justice," he said. "I am going to decide on a school based on academic programs, the coaching staff, and the team, really the personality of the team."
Zimmerman added that his timetable to make a decision is loose, sometime after next football season.
