Recruiting: Ewy Receiving Attention

In starting to check on prospects that we know we will list in the Midlands for SuperPrep we spoke with Tyler Ewy again and got an update on his recruitiment. Ewy is a three-sport standout at Louisburg, Kan.

The 6-3, 255-pounder is currently catching for the baseball team ("Our team is doing okay," he said.), after finishing at state in wrestling. He qualified for state at heavyweight and won one match before being eliminated.

A combo offensive and defensive lineman, Ewy projects on defense as he will only fill out more when he focuses on football and spends more time in the weight room. He runs a 5.0 forty, has a 300-pound bench press max, and a squat max of 450 pounds.

His parents both went to Oklahoma State and his father played football for the Cowboys in the 1979 and 1980 seasons.

"Since both my parents went to Oklahoma State, I have always been an Oklahoma State fan," he said. "But I did grow up in Kansas, so I have kind of been a Kansas State fan too.

"I got invited by Nebraska, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Kansas for their junior days but I couldn't attend any of those because of wrestling. Regionals and then the state tournament were right at the same time," added Ewy.

"I did go down to Kansas State for their spring game last weekend. It was a pretty good visit. I went to an Oklahoma State game last season and that was really good. I got to walk around and see everything and they have some really nice facilities."

Ewy said when baseball concludes it will be back to football and he said he plans on going to football camps at Kansas State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and maybe a couple of others that he hasn't decided on yet. He said for now, his plan is to major in business.

Besides Kansas State, Nebraska, and Oklahoma State, he said he is hearing from Iowa State, Illinois, and Missouri.

Ewy is definitely a guy to keep an eye on and his performance at the camps this summer will be interesting to follow.
