Recruiting: Mabry Is OSU's First DT Commit

Just a few days after making a commitment to Baylor, defensive tackle Ashaad Mabry of San Antonio (MacArthur), Texas, received an offer from Oklahoma State and changed his mind to his dream school.

"I had received an offer from Baylor and I had been waiting on Oklahoma State," said Mabry. "Baylor was really wanting me to make a decision and I had to think that I might be waiting for something (OSU Offer) that might not come, so I had committed to Baylor.

"Oklahoma State offered me last night and I was really happy, that is my dream school and I really wanted to play there," continued Mabry.

"I changed my commitment and I'm committed to Oklahoma State. It was a tough phone call but I called Baylor and let them know. I'm just really happy because Oklahoma State is where I wanted to be. I love the facilities and the coaches. This is the school I want to play for."

Mabry had told us his history with schools he rooted for growing up. It was Texas in the beginning, but Texas wasn't recruiting him real aggressively.

"Yes, I started out as a fan of Texas but as I got older I really did become a fan of the Oklahoma State Cowboys," said Mabry a month ago.

Last season Mabry had 67 tackles and he also had four sacks, teaming up with fellow defenders on more than one occasion at the quarterback. He has solid academic work and that is a major factor for him in picking a school, which now is Oklahoma State.
