"Cal just offered me yesterday," said Lewis. "Oregon was there at school today and they pulled me out of class to tell me they were probably going to offer. The University of Houston also offered me last week.
"Now I have eight scholarship offers and when Oregon offers me that will make nine. I am wide open because I haven't been to any of these schools yet. I hope to start going to see the schools this summer and then start to narrow it down."
Lewis' offers are really scattered out ranging from four schools in the region with Oklahoma State, Baylor, Texas Tech, and Houston. Out west there is Cal and Arizona with Oregon likely to join in, and then in the southeast there is Alabama. The question begs if going away from home to school is a big deal.
"It does matter a tad bit but it wouldn't be that big a deal in that I'm going to go to the best school for me," said Lewis. "Football will be important and I want to major in sports medicine.
"I know that I am going to some schools this summer but I haven't decided where or when yet," added Lewis.
Last season Lewis finished with 78 tackles and seven sacks. He is a playmaker with his athleticism. While he said he likes the 3-4 defensive scheme and enjoys moving around up front, he said he wouldn't mind playing in a 4-3 defense either.
"I get double-teamed a lot, so I wouldn't mind playing in a 4-3. That would be okay," said Lewis.
Athletic, smart, and versatile, it all adds up to a good combination and it is no wonder he is getting the kind of attention that he is.
