Recruiting: Washington Gets OSU Offer

One of Oklahoma State's most recent offers is also one of the most recent offers for Houston and Vanderbilt. In fact, speedster DeAndre Washington of Missouri City (Marshall), Texas, has offers from OSU, Houston, Vanderbilt, Baylor, Colorado, Kansas State, Louisville, Memphis, and Texas Tech.

He is also getting recruiting interest from Arkansas, Miami, OU, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, USC, and Boise State among others.

Washington is 5-9, 185 pounds with 4.4 speed and he reported that his current max in the bench press is an impressive 330 pounds with a max in the squat of 450 pounds.

"I'm enjoying recruiting," said Washington. "Really, what is most important is being comfortble and going somewhere that I fit. I'm going to be there four years and I want to fit into a system. It needs to be a system where I can make plays. I want to go somewhere that I can be a playmaker."

Washington is a versatile back that rushed for more than 700 yards and scored eight touchdowns last season. He is also a more than capable receiver out of the backfield. A wide open system out of a spread would be a natural fit.

He recently finished up track season as Marshall just missed in qualifying at regionals for state as they were third in the 4x100 and 4x200 meter relays that Washington runs on.

He said that he is planning on checking out schools this summer and plans to make his decision this summer if he can. He has not decided on a major yet, but said he is leaning towards engineering or mass communications.

"I'm going to evaluate it real hard," said Washington of the summer. "I will talk to my mom for help. She agrees that I need to go to the best city. It can be somewhere across the country or right here close. It is just the best city for me that I need to find."

Oklahoma State is one of those schools he plans to check out this summer, but it is a long list right now.
