Johnson Is Huge Pick Up For Cowboys

As we have suspected, Lyndell Johnson of Plano (East), Texas has made a commitment to Oklahoma State. Johnson was up with his friend Desmond Roland of Dallas (Lake Highlands), Texas on an unofficial visit Saturday. The 6-3, 190-pound Johnson is absolutely a perfect prospect for the "star" linebacker position at Oklahoma State that goes to a hybrid linebacker/safety prospect.

Johnson confirmed by text that he committed to Gundy before leaving Saturday but there is no word on what Roland is planning or thinking at this stage.

Johnson is one of the top prospects on defense in Texas and had 72 tackles, 46 unassisted last season, with three interceptions. As a sophomore he had 35 tackles and an interception.

He was also offered by schools including Arizona, Arkansas, Baylor, LSU, Notre Dame, Missouri, Nebraska, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Utah and many others.

Johnson played youth league football with OSU offensive line commitment Travis Cross of Plano West. He is one of the top prospects in Texas and a Super Team selection in Texas Football magazine.
