Maselera: 'I Am Still A Cowboy'

Standout Isaac Maselera of Glenpool, Okla., is in the midst of preseason practice for the Glenpool Warriors and the early Oklahoma State commitment in the 2012 recruiting class, the first commitment in thr class, was quoted in the Tulsa World on Thursday as being "pretty solid" to Oklahoma State.

"TU kind of caught my eye because Marco (former Glenpool teammate Marco Nelson is a freshman) is there," Maselera was quoted. "Every time I go up there and hang out with him, I'm like, 'This is pretty cool.' But OSU's probably my choice right now."

Maselera told us that while he wasn't misquoted, he may have been misread and didn't mean it that way or that strong.

"No, I didn't mean it that way," he said. "Tulsa is the only other school that I could see myself at, and yes, I enjoy seeing Marco Nelson up there and hanging out.

"I am still a Cowboy. Tulsa is a good school and I could see myself being there, but it isn't going to happen. I haven't changed at all and I am going to OSU."

The 5-11, 185-pound Maselera said he is practicing at both running back and safety for Glenpool.

"Practice is going good," said Maselera. "It is hot, but we are beating the heat going at 7 a.m. in the morning."

Glenpool opens its scrimmage season on Friday, Aug. 20, at home against Tulsa Metro Christian, for fans that want to get an early look at the Warriors and Maselera.
