Future Cowboys: Week 1

Oklahoma State has 17 players who have given verbal commitments for the Class of 2011. As we have done for the past several years, GoPokes.com will follow those 17 players during the course of their 2010 football seasons. Here are the results of those future Cowboys for this past week.

JIMMY BEAN, defensive end (6-5, 220)
Guyer High School (Denton, Texas)
This week's game: In a classic televised by Fox Sports Southwest, Guyer went toe-to-toe with Class 5A power Cedar Hill before suffering a 42-41 overtime loss in the Kirk Herbstreit Classic at Cowboys Stadium.

MICHAEL BOWIE, OL (6-5, 315)
Navarro College (Corsicana, Texas)
This week's game: Navarro got its first win of the season with a 27-7 victory over Georgia Military.

TRAVIS CROSS, OL (6-5, 270)
West High School (Plano, Texas)
This week's game: Plano West has a bye week after opening the season with a 16-14 win on Aug 26.

DEVIN DAVIS, OL (6-5, 250)
Nacogdoches High School (Nacogdoches, Texas)
This week's game: Nacogdoches lost its season opener 63-53 to Little Cypress-Mauriceville on Friday night.

DAVID GLIDDEN, WR (5-11, 180)
Mustang High School (Mustang, Okla.)
This week's game: Glidden had a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and another long kickoff return to the 2-yard line to set up another score but it wasn't enough as the sixth-ranked Broncos lost to Yukon 43-28 in Friday night's season opener.

JOHNNY HAYNES, WR (5-10, 175)
MacArthur High School (Irving, Texas)
This week's game: Haynes accounted for nearly half of Irving MacArthur's 231 total yards in Friday night's 24-8 loss to Plano. He had six catches for 67 yards, including a two-point conversion reception, and rushed for 45 yards on 10 carries.

East High School (Plano, Texas)
This week's game: Plano East rolled to a 44-26 victory over Garland Naaman Forest on Friday night.

North Shore High School (Galena Park, Texas)
This week's game: North Shore bounced back Friday night from last week's season-opening loss in convincing fashion with a 68-20 victory over Eisenhower.

MacArthur High School (San Antonio, Texas)
This week's game: MacArthur improved to 2-0 with Saturday night's 48-21 victory over San Antonio Stevens.

ISAAC MASELERA, S (6-0, 185)
Glenpool High School (Glenpool, Okla.)
This week's game: Maselera only played part of the first quarter before re-injuring his right ankle but Glenpool didn't need him as the Warriors defeated Berryhill 54-14 in Friday night's season opener.

Richland Hills High School (Richland Hills, Texas)
This week's game: Richland improved to 2-0 with a 23-7 victory over Birdville on Friday night.

RYAN ROBINSON, DE (6-4, 270)
Jones County Junior College (Ellisville, Miss.)
This week's game: Jones County, ranked 19th in the junior college poll, opened the season Thursday night with a 34-3 victory over Mississippi Delta Community College.

DESMOND ROLAND, WR (6-2, 190) Lake Highlands High School (Dallas, Texas) This week's game: Roland rushed for 140 yards and a touchdown, and caught two passes for 29 yards but it wasn't enough as Lake Highlands suffered a 48-21 loss to Mesquite Horn. Lake Highlands is now 1-1.

QUENTIN SARGENT, CB (5-11, 175)
Bowie High School (Arlington, Texas)
This week's game: Arlington Bowie suffered a 49-21 loss to DeSoto in the fourth and final game of the Kirk Herbstreit Classic at Cowboys Stadium on Monday night.

HERSCHEL SIMS, RB (5-9, 190)
Abilene High School (Abilene, Texas)
This week's game: Sims rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game with a bruised shoulder on the final play of the third quarter of Saturday's 35-20 victory over Franklinton (La.) in the Action Sports Medicine Champions Classic in Abilene.

J.W. WALSH, QB (6-2, 190)

Walsh put on a show in a classic televised by Fox Sports Southwest. A week after throwing for a career-best 340 yards, the quarterback showed why he's a dual threat by rushing for 184 yards and five touchdowns on 21 carries as Guyer went toe-to-toe with Class 5A power Cedar Hill before suffering a 42-41 overtime loss in the Kirk Herbstreit Classic at Cowboys Stadium. He also completed 8 of 16 passes for 135 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown.
