RECRUITING: Florida speedster will visit Norman

One of the nations' fastest prospects - Xavier Carter - says he will attend Oklahoma's summer camp

A super athlete, Carter is going to be recruited on both sides of the ball. Carter is heading into his third year as a starter at wide receiver and he has dabbled at linebacker on the defensive side the ball. Carter kicks-off on special teams and he also returns kick-offs as well. Last season Carter hauled in 28 passes for 757 yards and nine touchdowns on a running football team.

"We have a new quarterback who has moved in and he can throw the ball a little," said Carter. "We will probably be a little more of a passing team this season."

Carter can bench 225 pounds and he attended the Miami Nike Football Camp last summer. Carter will compete with his team in passing camps this summer and he plans to attend the Oklahoma camp as well. Carter has been offered by LSU, Indiana, West Virginia, Central Florida, Oklahoma and Maryland.

"I am pretty open right now because I want to check out a bunch of schools. Oklahoma is very high on my list because I like the football tradition and the academic center that they have. I like the Sooners offense because it is balanced, which opens things up for their passing game."

Carter runs track competing in the 200M, where he has posted the fastest time in the nation at 20.8. He has also posted the fastest 400M time at 45.8 and he has a 10.4 100 meter time.

"I would like to play football and run track in college," said Carter. "I realize that is not easy to do but I would like to try both."

Carter says he won't have any trouble qualifying.
