RECRUITING: Football or basketball for Chaney?

Tulsa Washington athlete Quentin Chaney has an offer from OU, but is football his favorite sport?

Chaney is one of the best pure athletes in the country and is drawing division-one attention in both football and basketball. Thus far he has only had offers in football, but he knows in the future the offers will come for basketball.

"I know that I am going to get some offers in basketball as well," said Chaney. "I probably like basketball a little bit better than football right now. I really don't know which sport I play the best and I still have a year to work all this out anyway."

Chaney will be a three-year starter at both wide receiver and safety and he was the sixth man in basketball where he averaged 12 points and nine rebounds for the Hornets. Chaney can bench 235 pounds, but he hasn't spent a great deal of time in the weight room because he is always playing either football or basketball.

In the summer he plays for the prestigious Athlete's First AAU Basketball team. In football Chaney has offers on the table from OSU, Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas A&M, and he hopes to let the recruiting process play out.

"I really don't have any favorites," said Chaney. "I like several schools and right now I am just trying to see what each school has to offer. I would have to say that Oklahoma is in my top five. I like the Oklahoma offense and how they get their receivers involved. I like Coach (Darryl) Wyatt, because he seems like a great guy and Coach Bob Stoops seems to be a great guy as well. I like Oklahoma a lot because they pass the ball quite a bit. Also, add Michigan to my top five list."

Chaney always has a busy schedule as currently he works with the football team during the week and then plays AAU basketball on the weekends.

"I like OU of course in basketball along with Arizona," said Chaney. "I also like Texas and I would have to say Duke."
