3. Baseball Media Day--It's hard not to put this in the top two of these three events. OU is coming off its 10th College World Series appearance during the 2010 season, and this Media Day at 5 p.m. officially gets the ball rolling for the 2011 campaign. Head coach Sunny Golloway will first address the media. Following that, select players, including third baseman Garrett Buechele, catcher Tyler Ogle and others, will also meet with the media. It's an event that Sooner fans certainly want to keep a close eye on, but it's not quite the most important one.
2. Quarterback Sam Bradford returns--Though it's not the most important Wednesday happening either, the former Sooner Heisman Trophy signal caller and No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft makes a return trip to Norman after his first full season as a professional quarterback for the St. Louis Rams. Bradford threw for more than 3,500 yards, while tossing 18 touchdowns to 15 interceptions and managing a 76.5 passer rating. He will hold a press conference at 7:15 p.m. just before tipoff of OU's Red River Rivalry basketball game against Texas. Then, at halftime, Bradford will be recognized. Additionally, the first 5,000 fans will receive a Bradford poster, with some fans winning autographed memorabilia.
1. OU-Texas Hoops--This has to be at the top. The Longhorns throttled the Sooners 66-46 earlier this year in Austin, but it's time for revenge. And since then, OU has been playing much better basketball, going 4-1 in the stretch after that defeat. UT leads the conference with a perfect 8-0 record, while OU is 4-4. But this matchup--give it a chance--has all the makings of a very intriguing one. With a solid performance, OU could pull off a massive upset as Sooner Nation gets to "White Out" the Lloyd Noble Center.
Sooners Illustrated has all these events on lockdown, so stay tuned for all the updates and analysis.
