OU (27-11) didn't get a good start from sophomore lefty Ryan Gibson, who lasted just 2/3 of an inning and the offense wasn't the offensive juggernaut it usually is when it faces unranked, midweek pitching.
The Sooners had just nine hits in the victory, had to come from behind and were tied with the Warriors 2-2 going into the bottom of the fifth, the inning in which OU plated two runs to take a lead that they would not give up.
Freshman pitcher Steven Bruce earned his first career victory by throwing seven-hit, one run ball through 6 1/3 innings before handing the ball over to freshman pitcher Cayle Shambaugh.
The lefty pitched two perfect innings and recorded three strikeouts to close the game and earn his first save.
OU tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single by junior first baseman Cameron Seitzer. The junior ended the night going 2-for-2 and driving in two runs.
The Sooners will try to build upon the victory this weekend in a three-game set against the Nebraska Cornhuskers at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
Friday night's game is slated for 6:30, and the final two games are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.
