Harris Says Boomer Sooner!

Just 24-hours after receiving his offer from Oklahoma , DeVante Harris went ahead and made his decision to be a Sooner. Harris talked about his commitment along with even sending a few texts to a few Texas commitments. Check inside for more.

Sometimes in the recruiting game you can just tell when a player has received the offer he was waiting on Last night Sooners Illustrated got that feeling from De'Vante Harris

Barely a day later Harris went ahead and confirmed our thought and became the Sooners fifth commitment for the 2012 class

"I fell in love with Oklahoma man," Harris stated "That's where I want to be "

The 5-foot-11 and 160-pound corner from Mesquite Horn knew that Oklahoma was where he wanted to be and went ahead and called Coach Martinez and told him the news

"He loved it he was ecstatic He was very, very, very happy "

After hanging up with his future position coach, Harris said he was just sitting around and celebrating

"I'm real excited," Harris began "I'm just over here celebrating with my best friend "

The Red River Rivalry is full of trash talk and bad blood every year Funny thing is most of the players on the field are friends that live and breathe different colors

On that day however, friendship goes out the window for 60-minutes

Right before Harris committed he let Johnathan Gray and Bryson Echols, two Longhorn commits know where he was headed and to be ready come October

"I want to be talking noise to Jonathan Gray actually," Harris said "Before I committed I told him before I committed that he was going to have to see me in that Red River Rivalry I texted him (Gray) and Bryson Echols "

Harris explained what Sooner fans can expect from him as a player when he gets to Norman in the summer of 2012

"They can expect a vocal leader I'm going to come and bring some enthusiasm and I'm just going to try to keep the tradition going "

There is a chance that Harris may try to graduate early so he can get to Norman in time for spring ball next year That is something Harris says he will have to talk over with his parents

"I don't even know I might talk with my parents about graduating early here in the near future," Harris said

The future Sooner wrapped it up with a message to the Sooner Nation

"Boomer Sooner," Harris said "I'm coming "
