Sooners Release 2011 Schedule

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma today announced its 2011 football schedule. The 12-game slate features six home games.

Due to the adjustment to the Big 12 schedule and ongoing discussions with television partners, the release of the schedule has been delayed by several months.

"We appreciate the patience of our fans as we completed this process," said Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Athletics Joe Castiglione. "We encountered unusual circumstances this year, but those circumstances were unavoidable. We now feel like we have a schedule that provides good rhythm and continuity for our fans and team, and yet still provides great exposure for us through television."

Oklahoma opens on Sept. 3 with a home game against Tulsa. After an off-week, the Sooners then travel to Florida State.

The Big 12 opener takes place the following week, Sept. 24, against Missouri in Norman, before OU wraps up its non-league slate the following week against Ball State, also in Norman.

The AT&T Red River Rivalry takes place Oct 8 before alternating home and away games, all against Big 12 foes, wrap up the regular season. Oklahoma is at Kansas on Oct. 15, before hosting Texas Tech on Oct. 22. Another trip to Kansas follows on Oct. 29 when the Sooners visit Kansas State before returning to Norman for a Nov. 4 game against Texas A&M.

OU will be at Baylor on Nov. 19 then play its home finale against Iowa State on Nov. 26. The regular season finale is Dec. 3 at Oklahoma State.

The 2011 schedule includes eight teams that played in bowl games and their combined record was 89-64.
