Texas Offers Sooner Commit

With Sooner Camp in full force, some major news has emerged outside of Norman.

In fact, that news comes from OU's rival town in Austin, Texas, where Sooners Illustrated has learned the Texas Longhorns have offered 2012 wide receiver commit Daniel Brooks from Rockdale High.

Brooks, a three-star receiver and the 46th ranked wide out in the country, verbally committed to OU back on March 10 just days after getting a Crimson and Cream offer.

"I talked to my parents about it, and we thought that OU is a good school," Brooks said at the time. "What they have to offer is great, and the coaches are great."

Defensive coordinator Brent Venables, who he texted to inform of his decision, and head coach Bob Stoops influenced his choice, but so did OU's history of great success.

"Their tradition of winning [is impressive]," Brooks said. "Their coaches, Coach Stoops is the best coach in college football by far. He's just a great man and great coach. How prestigious they are, everything they have to offer me is great."

Now, he'll have to decide what to do about this offer, and he'll need to show the Sooners if he's a "soft verbal" or a "strong verbal."
